Breaking & Entering, 2006–2008
Griffin House
A singer-songwriter from Springfield, Ohio, named on the roster of Cove’s emerging-artist section. The interview itself did not survive; his records did, and there are a dozen of them.

What Cove’s archive holds
Griffin House appears in exactly one place in what survives of Cove: the list of “Former Breaking & Entering Stars” printed under the Nick Howard interview on the Breaking & Entering page. The magazine’s note under that list describes everyone on it as artists who had been interviewed and/or appeared inside our “Breaking and Entering” article/section
between 2006 and 2008. Which of the two applied to House, and what was said, is not recorded in any page the archive kept.
The roster gives a name and nothing else, so the identification below is ours. MusicBrainz holds one recording artist called Griffin House, an American singer-songwriter whose releases begin in 2003 and who was issuing records throughout the years the section ran. We treat that artist as Cove’s Griffin House on that basis. Nothing published says otherwise, and nothing published confirms it either.

The records
MusicBrainz lists thirteen release groups. The albums and EPs are below; the one single it holds, from 2013, is left out of the table.

|---|---|---|---|
| 2003-02-02 | Upland | Album | Evening Records |

Read down the label column and the career has a clear shape. The first album and several later releases carry his own imprint, Evening Records (once as Evening Productions). Two albums in between, Lost & Found (2004) and 42 and a Half Minutes With Griffin House (2009), carry Nettwerk, and Flying Upside Down (2007) was issued by both. Wikipedia’s account matches that outline: Upland was an independent first release, and the Nettwerk relationship ran through the label’s American arm. The 2006 EPs House of David, Volume 1 and Volume 2 show no label at all.
What is documented since
Most of the catalogue post-dates Cove. After The Learner (2010) MusicBrainz shows Balls (2013), a 2014 live EP titled Songs for a Prisoner (Live From Prison), Rising Star (2019) and an EP, The Tides, in August 2023: the latest release it holds. Wikipedia names Jeff Trott as producer of Flying Upside Down. Neither source gives sales or radio figures we could cite, so this page gives none.
Why he is here
Cove’s Breaking & Entering section existed to catch artists before they broke, and its roster is the closest thing the magazine left to a list of predictions. House is one of the few names on it with a substantial, dated record afterwards. That makes his page one of the few places where the section can be checked against what happened next. The other roster names we could match are Alexa Wilkinson and Nick Howard. The rest are on the archive’s new-artists page, with a note on why each was or was not profiled.
