What Cove recorded

Cove’s New Music Tuesdays page from early March 2005 carries a short “Coming Soon” list of three albums: Frankie J. - One, Tweet - It’s Me Again and Fat Joe’s Things of That Nature. The page dates itself through its contents: it lists 50 Cent’s The Massacre with the date “March 3rd”. MusicBrainz dates It’s Me Again to 21 March 2005, so Cove’s listing came a few weeks ahead of the release.

The reviews quoted elsewhere on that page are credited to Amazon, AllMusic and Barnes & Noble, and are not Cove’s words. The page says nothing more about Tweet than the listing.

Southern Hummingbird, released 2 April 2002 on Goldmind and Elektra, is the first album. MusicBrainz also lists several 2002 singles, dated only by year, among them “Oops (Oh My)” and “Call Me”. A 2004 tour mixtape bridges to It’s Me Again, by then on Atlantic with Goldmind. Then the record goes quiet for eight years. An EP, Simply Tweet, followed in 2013 and the album Charlene in 2016, on eOne.

The name on the last album

Wikipedia gives her name as Charlene Keys, so the 2016 album carries her own first name after two albums as Tweet. MusicBrainz also links her to an earlier group, Da Bassment, which is outside the scope of this page.

What is documented since

The newest entry in MusicBrainz is a single, “Neva Felt This Way”, from August 2020. Neither source we use gives sales or chart figures in a form this page could cite. Three albums in fourteen years is a small catalogue, and the long gap after 2005 is the fact the table makes plain.

The other artist on Cove’s Coming Soon list, Frankie J, released his album the day after hers. Another soul singer from Cove’s archive whose label history is a sequence of moves is Lyfe Jennings.

It’s Me Again, track by track

The album Cove listed as coming soon, as released on 21 March 2005. “Turn da Lights Off”, which MusicBrainz lists as a 2005 single, is track 2.
